Goa Gala Gala – Nusa Lembongan is a small island which has a lot of wonderful destinations with great views. It’s called underground house because there is a heritage inside the cave under the ground which looks like a house. According to the legend, Goa Gala Gala was built by Mangku Made Byasa, a Hindu hermit.

It took 15 years for him to build Goa Gala Gala, it was started from 1961 to 1976. Traditional tool like crowbar and a dough of burnt cow feces are used to soften the underground limestone which made the building process easier. Therefore, it took years to build Goa Gala Gala.

The Uniqueness of Goa Gala Gala

Goa Gala Gala is located in Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida subdistrict. This 7 meter-underground cave which has 500 square meter area is a unique place which has been visited by both domestics and foreigners. 3 ventilations are put in the cave for the air circulation, therefore you don’t need to heat yourselves inside this underground cave. History of Goa Gala Gala

Goa Gala Gala was made by Mangku Made Byasa, inspired by a story of a Hindu puppetry called Mahabarata which told the lives of Pandawa who was escaping from Kurawa because of feeling unsafe. Therefore, Pandawa made a cave for their protection. This story had inspired Mangku Made Byasa to build a cave to make his dream came true. Mangku Made Byasa was a puppeteer who used to do hermitage to connect himself spiritually to his God.

It is about 1.5 km to reach Goa Gala Gala from the Mushroom Bay and about 3.7 km from Jungut Batu. You just need 20.000 rupiahs for an entrance ticket to Goa Gala Gala, you can take a Nusa Lembongan tour package to explore this small island.
