Top Diving Locations in Nusa Penida
Manta Point

The defining characteristic of this Nusa Penida dive site is the presence of the majestic Giant Manta Rays, which congregate around a cleaning station here. Some of these Manta Rays have wingspans exceeding 3 meters and are decorated with unique patterns of black, gray, and white on their undersides. Their sheer size and elegance are truly astonishing. Divers are advised to maintain a respectful distance from the Mantas. Besides the Manta Rays, you can also see schools of blue-spotted stingrays, as well as octopus hiding in the limestone rocks, bamboo sharks, tuna, and other marine life.
Crystal Bay

Crystal Bay is one of Nusa Penida’s most popular dive spots, primarily because it’s considered one of the best places in Bali to encounter the Mola-Mola (Ocean Sunfish). The site also features a cave teeming with sleeping bats on its upper walls. The waters here are typically crystal clear, but can be quite cold during the dry season. The temperature can drop to as low as 15 degrees Celsius—a condition the Mola-Mola thrive in—offering divers a prime opportunity to witness them. Besides the Mola-Mola, divers can also spot wobegong sharks, reef sharks, eagle rays, dolphins, blue-spotted rays, Napoleon wrasse, and many other creatures.
Gamat Bay

Located close to Toyapakeh, Gamat Bay is famous for its beauty and the strength of its currents, making it a challenging and rewarding dive location. A key highlight is diving along the sheer coral wall that lines the bay’s edge. The bottom of Gamat Bay is scattered with coral clusters and beautiful coral mounds, which provide shelter for various fish species. For underwater photography enthusiasts, Gamat Bay is an ideal spot to capture stunning images.
Malibu Point

This dive site is widely known as one of the best on Nusa Penida. Divers here can see reef sharks, stingrays, rainbow runners, tuna, and Mola-Mola (typically from July to September) with visibility often reaching 20 meters.
Toyapakeh

Toyapakeh is just a 20-minute fast boat ride from Padangbai. The dive starts at a depth of 6 meters, featuring a vibrant mix of both soft and hard corals. Around the 10-meter mark, you’ll encounter coral mounds sheltering numerous sweetlips, jackfish, batfish, Napoleon wrasse, and turtles. At the deeper slopes, you may have the chance to meet the Mola-Mola.
Blue Corner
This thrilling dive spot features a sloping coral terrace that drops from 20 to 30 meters. Blue Corner is known for having stronger currents than other sites, sometimes reaching 3-4 knots. While diving, you might encounter large schools of eagle rays, black-spotted stingrays, tuna, turtles, dolphins, whale sharks, trevally, barracuda, moray eels, mantas, and the Mola-Mola, which particularly enjoys this location.
SD Point

At the SD Point dive site, divers often meet large pelagic fish such as Giant Trevally, sharks, and if they’re lucky, the Mola-Mola Sunfish during its season (between June and October). This spot is highly recommended for divers seeking a higher-level adventure.
